Independent Classes - what can I expect?

Our independent classes are aimed at children from the age of 3 years until school age, to develop gymnastic, social and co-ordination skills under the supervision of the qualified coaches.

What is the format of the class?

Each class starts with a coach-led warm-up to get everyone going, using hand apparatus and a song with actions that the children quickly learn.

The children are then split into small groups and taken onto separate equipment stations. A full visual and verbal explanation is given to the children as they arrive at each station to demonstrate what needs to be done. The coach will engage with the children, asking questions, using colours and counting to make sure they are clear on what that section is about. The stations are designed as mini circuits with different start points throughout to ensure that the children are always active and moving - we don’t expect them to sit still and wait their turn for long!

Once children have had two or three goes, they make trains and move onto the next station.

The class finishes with a fun cool-down and a well-earned sticker!

How long does each class last?

Each class runs for 40 minutes.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?

Please ensure your child is wearing loose fitting, comfortable clothes - all members will be given a special Gym-a-Roos T-shirt to wear to each class after their first session.

CAN I BRING SIBLINGS ALONG?

If siblings are in the same age bracket, we offer discounts for them to join in the class as well. However, if you have younger children you’re more than welcome to bring them along to wait with you in the waiting area, where age-appropriate toys are available.

I’ve seen my daughter blossom at Emma’s gymnastic classes - she loves earning her awards and can’t wait to go every week!
